From a sausage guy curious about plant-based food to a vegan success story, Mario Fabbri is on a mission to learn vegan cooking from the top vegan chefs and nutritionists of the world.
His show, Trying Vegan with Mario is one of the first ever vegan cooking shows to air on television and the goal is: to inspire people to be more aware of where their food is coming from, and eat more environmentally conscious.
Trying Vegan shows eating plant-based is not a sacrifice, it’s an adventure.
Of equal importance, in this podcast exchange Mario reveals how to handle cooking and conversations with your non-vegan loved ones. He didn’t get if right from the start however Mario AND his dad, have made more progress than I have.
Mario suggests: “if I can do it, anyone can do it!”
I intend to apply that to the more challenging part, handling family dynamics with grace as well as the easier part, plant-based deliciousness.
In this conversation we cover:
- Mario grew up around food and eating a lot of meat.
- At just 19 Mario started a videography company that produced cooking shows.
- A live television waffle disaster, that became a huge win.
- The transition from working at his dad’s Italian sausage factory to learning the benefits of a vegan lifestyle.
- What did Mario struggle with initially?
- Trying Vegan with Mario is one of the first ever vegan cooking shows. Did the angle Mario chose, being a non-vegan on a mission to find the best vegan recipes make it more accessible to people?
- Learnings from expert vegan chefs that make a vegan lifestyle easier and more delicious for others.
- Mario came home for Christmas and tried to veganise all the family fav recipes… how did that go?!
- How he would now suggest we encourage our family to eat more plant-based.
- How To Grow Your Own Sprouts… and why we should!
I am taking hope from this high energy conversation.
If a son can turn down the family legacy.
Go from sausages to sprouting… while still enjoying and prioritising all the love and connection that great food with people we love brings to our life, that is encouraging for the rest of us to continue planting little seeds with our non-vegan loved ones.
