Vancouver based Naturopathic Doctor Matthew Nagra is on the show today to help bust some of the more prevalent and persistent myths and misinformation about a vegan or plant based diet.
Dr Nagra’s approach is evidence based – he’s led by the science and yet also importantly he’s an ethical vegan.
Beyond digging in with micronutrients of concern with a vegan diet, to soy or not to soy and what about OIL? I’m really keen to explore why in a time with more information than ever are we so confused as consumers?
Equally how is it that The Experts are in disagreement so far as their recommendations and readings of, The Evidence.
For a little official bio: Dr Nagra completed a Bachelor of Science, Microbiology: from the University of Victoria in 2014. He graduated as Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the Boucher Institute in 2018. He is certified in plant based nutrition through eCornell and the T Colin Campbell’s Center for Nutrition Studies.
He holds additional board certifications in prescriptive authority, immunisations, advanced injection therapies, intravenous therapies, and acupuncture.
Dr Nagra is prolific across the socials shining an evidence based light as he shares the latest nutrition research and he’s not afraid to tackle misinformation spread by perhaps over zealous members of the vegan community either.
What I LOVE most about Dr Nagra’s approach is that even if some of the science recommends predominately plant based OR a very small amount of particular animal products might be ok he is clear we must also consider the ethics and the environmental impacts of animal agriculture which undeniably present 100% plant based as the kindness most sustainable approach to our nutrition.
