Today I’m chatting to Maxime Sigouin, The Fit Vegan Coach. As founder of Fit Vegan Coaching, Maxime has helped over 650 vegans successfully transition to a healthier way of living.
With a huge mission to help 1 million people by 2050, Maxime is dedicated to spreading the message of plant-based nutrition and exercise as the key to leading a healthy and fulfilling life.
In addition to his coaching and business ventures, Maxime is a highly accomplished athlete. He has competed in Ironman and Spartan races, as well as cycling events to raise money for cancer research.
In this conversation we discuss some of the strategies Maxime deploys to help individuals with their body transformations.
The vital physiological component of any lasting lifestyle change and the fascinating balance to negotiate between striving to achieve a compelling life mission and the need to also appreciate the now and even, feel content.
In this conversation we cover:
- Maxime’s vegan journey.
- Someone in Maxime’s life who helped make him into the person he is today.
- How Maxime came to believe in the value of seeking mentors and of backing himself to implement their advice.
- Maxime’s advice so far as, how to stop playing small and instead play a bigger game?
- How to manage the fine line to walk between also appreciating the NOW and what you have already achieved?
- Maxime advocates 100% whole food plant-based to hit protein (and all) requirements. Why?
- The personal significance of the “disease proof” aspect of Maxime’s coaching.
- All transformations are 80% psychology and 20% strategy.
- Some of the major mindset blocks Maxime sees time and time again with clients.
- Reverse dieting to stop the frustrating cycle of “loosing the same 20 pounds for the past 20 years.”
One of my takeaways from that conversation was the importance of seeking out the right mentors. Then backing yourself to implement their advice. Likely most of us know how quickly your life can change for the worse however also, when you’re focused and committed it can absolutely change for the better pretty swiftly too.
Also, and I would say this is true whether our goals are huge or not, we cannot do it alone.
I love that Maxime’s business mission involve collaborating with other vegan fitness coaches. I think we can get better at doing that across the board. If we all want the same thing then let’s work together on making it happen.
Finally, for the individual with a health goal, please know you can’t do it alone either. Enlist the support of those who love you. Share your goal. Share why is is so important to you. Ask for the people who love you to be on your team, whether that’s by not bringing ice-cream into the house. Or by minding the kids while you go for a walk. Or simply by giving you some encouragement on those struggle-street days we all get.
