I have a new podcast recommendation for you! Just So You Know is a PETA production. Each week, Jamie Logan and Justina Adorno, compare what we’re all being told about an important topic with, the truth about what we do to animals.
This great concept is executed with both #truthbombs and enough fun that (I hope!) non-vegans will listen too.
Today I’m speaking with animal advocate, YouTuber, Filmmaker, Content Creator and Podcast Host, Jamie Logan. Jamie is based in NYC and to quote her: “I make videos that get people thinking—Some call it ruining lives and pushing my agenda but I like to think of it as sharing an obvious truth that most people tend to ignore.”
Learning how we’ve been lied to. Understanding the truth behind how we treat animals within our broken food, clothing, beauty and entertainment industries can make those of us who become vegan for the animals feel angry, frustrated and incredibly sad.
You know I struggle with that. You likely do too. Jamie has a unique skill in using humour to effectively advocate for the animals.
Quick note, Jamie had a day of speaking up for the animals at a fur protest before this 8pm interview and you can hear it in her poor voice. True to form, she turned up and delivered!
- The first time Jamie discovered the huge gap in what we’re being told about how we treat animals with the actual truth.
- Some of the most ridiculous lies sold to and believed by consumers.
- The role of culture and tradition in animal exploitation and how it’s easy to be out-raged by “what they do somewhere else” when we need to examine our own daily actions.
- Jamie starred in The Next Girl Film and it was filmed in a slaughter-house.
- How Jamie handles personal interactions with non-vegan loved ones.
- The balance between having fun, using humour and getting the animal rights message across effectively.
- Self care, Jamie needs to get better at it however she has some advice for other animals rights activists.
- What’s coming up on the Just So You Know podcast… HINT, going vegan improves your sex life!
I find it especially helpful discussing the line to walk between brutal truth and “meeting someone where they are” in animal rights activism with someone so effective and passionate.
I’m learning that most of us, give the people we love most more leeway.
It can feel like a weakness, or a concession however I don’t think it is when we make that choice consciously with the worthy goal of maintaining an important relationship… a relationship that we can, AND WILL, continue to sow with little vegan seeds even if it’s at a pace thats excruciatingly slow.
If you’re new to Jamie i imagine, like me, you’ll want to spend more time with her! I will have you all linked up in the show notes below.
