There are some people who radiate strength—not the loud, performative kind—the kind that’s built through compassion, purpose, and perseverance. Dr. Daphne Bascom is one of those people.
She’s a physician, community health and wellness advocate, and IFBB Bikini and Figure Professional who embraced fitness at 40—and saw her best performance on stage and in the gym after switching to a vegan, plant-powered lifestyle.
Today, Daphne serves as Chief Operating Officer of The Vegan Gym, leads the Thrive on Plants podcast and Skool community, and continues to champion women’s health and health equity with the same grounded conviction that defines everything she does.
In this conversation, we dive into what it means to live strong—not perfect or fearless, but strong. We talk about grief and gratitude, resilience and recovery, and how choosing plants can be an act of both personal and collective empowerment.

I recommend Daphne’s piece, Two Anniversaries, One Journey. Daphne share’s what those anniversaries mean for her—and how grief has shaped her path?
-

-
Daphne writes about choosing strong—not perfect, not fearless, but strong. How did the injury impact her sense of identity as a strong woman?
One of the things I love about this conversation, is it reminds us that strength isn’t about punishment, perfection or control — it’s about showing up with purpose, compassion, and a willingness to keep learning.
Daphne embodies that so fully — from her commitment to women’s health and health equity, to her plant-powered approach to living strong through every season.
If today’s chat resonated, please connect with Daphne and the Thrive on Plants community, and keep exploring what “strong” means for you — in your body, your choices, and your impact.
