Vegan Actress and Athlete Alicia Ziegler is a Certified Nutrition Specialist and Trainer who has devoted her life to fitness.
As a former Bikini Competitor, Cross-fitter, and Sponsored Athlete, Alicia refused prescription medication when doctors diagnosed her with Chronic Fatigue and IBS around 20 years ago.
She intuitively sought out a different modality. Alicia went on to obtain a Master of Science in Health and Nutrition Education Degree allowing her to heal herself and help change the lives of hundreds of clients since.
One of the things I love about this exchange is that as two vegan fitness professionals we do NOT get stuck in the weeds so far as food. Rather, we dig in with the mindset and attitude behind our food choices and more-so behind our LIFE choices.
Please enjoy this conversation with Vegan Actress Alicia Ziegler on Following Your Intuition, Using Fitness as Activism and Doing Hard Things.
In this conversation we cover:
- Alicia’s becoming vegan story.
- As an actress how has awareness of veganism changed on sets since Alicia started?
- The impact a plant-based lifestyle has had on Alicia’s personal health and fitness.
- Fitness as activism.
- A 3 Hour Row to support JOY International (who rescue victims of human trafficking).
- Alicia’s first ultra!
- For the individual who does not yet find fitness fun, what are Alicia’s recommendations for sticking with it?
- Positively influencing (or failing to influence) the health and food choices of the people you love most.
- Trusting your gut, following your intuition and, doing hard things.
Connecting with individuals such as Alicia is what I love about this podcast most.
Wherever YOU are in the world and whatever challenges you are facing there is someone out there either currently dealing with a similar situation or who has previously overcome a similar situation.
There’s a comfort there. There is also so much wisdom to learn from. I find the value I take from these conversations is less in all the (still fabulous) actionable advice and increasingly, more in the model-able mindsets and attitudes.
To connect with Alicia I will have you all linked up in the show notes below.
