Today I’m chatting with the powerhouse vegan couple behind That Good Good Market.
Intent on making a more sustainable, compassionate lifestyle accessible and not scary, Paula Vallero and Malacchi Esdale started That Good Good Market in San Diego. It’s the most popular vegan market in the city. An inclusive and fun lifestyle destination for vegans and non-vegans alike.
The fabulous news for those of us down under, is that they are now also bringing the market to Sydney!
Now this conversation isn’t just for my San Diego and Sydney friends! Paula and Malacchi have a fascinating origin story. Both as a couple and as founders of a fast growing vegan venture. Actually it’s a heart-melting love story!
We discuss how That Good Good Market transcends being merely a plant-based market. It serves as a vibrant hub for people to come together, forge connections, and embark on exciting culinary adventures.
Also, how we can both shatter vegan stereotypes as Malacchi does as an Olympic athlete AND get better at creating welcoming, supportive environments for the non-vegans in our life.
Please enjoy this conversation about, Shattering Vegan Stereotypes with Paula Vallero and Malacchi Esdale of That Good Good Market.
- Amidst the chaos of the Covid-19 pandemic, fate brought Paula and Malacchi together not just as husband and wife, but as business partners.

- How That Good Good Market transcends being a plant-based market to serves as a vibrant hub for people to come together, forge connections, and embark on exciting culinary adventures.
- Also, any Bad Bad (!) or Hard lessons learnt so far in their entrepreneurial journey?
- Malacchi is an Olympic athlete and professional rugby player. So far as health and fitness what are the vegan stereotypes that he’d like to bust? Did he once believe any of them?
- TGGM promises to bring an abundance of positive energy, “and warmth, creating an inviting atmosphere, driven by community and inclusivity.” How does TGGM do this AND where do we go wrong sometimes as vegans?
- What advice do Paula and Malacchi have for the vegan who has a family member who is plant-based curious? What is a good approach to take in supporting / encouraging their journey?
If you are loving the sound of That Good Good Market and live in Sydney or San Diego you know what to do!
Contact a family member, or friend or a FEW (!) and schedule a catch up at the next market. You don’t even need to tell them it’s vegan!
If you are sad that you don’t live in Sydney or San Diego, it’s worth seeing what your city has to offer. Very likely there is some sort of vegan market. Paula, Malacchi and I all share an abundance mindset. The more vegan goodness on offer the better. Let’s grow the movement by lifting one another up and supporting each other.
