Have you noticed how easy it is to focus on what didn’t go according to plan?
That carb-fest meal? The skipped walk before work? The half jar of nut butter DEMOLISHED with a fork?
When equally every single day you make plenty of decisions that ARE propelling you towards your ideal health.
Here are some examples my clients have shared with me this week:
=> Chopping up an abundance of nutritious one ingredient foods to snack on at work.
=> Making a 7pm training sesh after a huge start to the working (& socializing) week… or making a 5.45am training sesh after 4 hours sleep (due to work not play)
=> Turning a coffee catch-up into a walk (with body weight exercises) catch-up. GOLD!!!
What you focus on will expand.
The fact is with 2 million bits of info hitting your 5 senses every moment, your mind will filter in evidence to support whatever you choose to believe & whatever you choose to focus on.
Your mind can not deal with it all – the ‘filter IN’ is dependent on your focus.
In an area of your life in which you already excel, do you constantly look for the positives or the negatives???
Here are 3 Quick & Actionable steps to make focusing on the positive applicable to your health:
1. Winning Morning Routine:
Start your day focusing on consuming awesome fuel… for your body AND mind. Perhaps…
=> A high protein+fibrous veg breakie. (see my fat-loss-fuel-omelette here)
=> Commuting time listening to your fav podcast or an audio book.
=> An early am work-out.
(this can be done before 7am… before ‘most’ people even get up. What a jump start! Only if you don’t want to be ‘most’ people though…)
2. Switch 4 Success:
The first event in your day where your gut reaction is ‘oh well that’s super crap!’ …immediately switch to ‘what can I learn from this?’ (the more challenging the situation & creative you have to get the better!)
=> if each time you do this you continue to make a habit of ‘looking for the learning’ can you imagine the HUGE difference this will make to Your Results. Your Daily Happiness. Your Like-ability Factor??? (no one likes a ‘why me’ victim)
3. Complete each day with 3 things you did well:
Journal it on your iphone or old fashioned style via notepad… whichever feels right, my point is it’s way too easy to take for granted all your great decisions until you make a conscious decision to become aware of them => which means you’ll be focusing more on them => which means they will expand.
What you focus on will expand… so let it be your daily success’s.
What did you do well today? Share it and I guarantee you’ll be much more inclined to do well at it again tomorrow.
P.S. The cat picture? Ok… so that’s another chance to post a pic of my lil bro / sir Thomas / golden child… the relevance? When I say ‘pink cat’ …how hard is it to NOT picture a pink cat? Yep, HARD. So here’s to focusing on what you want.
